No product is more closely linked to Reflex Nutrition’s reputation than Instant Whey Pro.

Reflex Nutrition Instant Whey Pro 900g tub in Vanilla

At launch, it counted among the earliest high-quality whey proteins produced in the UK. Three decades on, it remains the brand’s signature protein.

We checked the spec sheet and the ingredient list, then read many independent buyer reviews. Our aim was to learn whether it deserves that reputation today.

    Protein, Macros and Extras

Three proteins go into the formula: milk protein concentrate, whey protein concentrate and whey protein isolate.

Each 30g scoop provides 24g of protein, so protein makes up 80% of the powder by weight. That ratio is notable, since the product is not a straight isolate.

A scoop has roughly 103 to 108 calories. Fat is 0.5g, carbs are 0.9g and sugar is 0.5g.

The formula includes DigeZyme digestive enzymes, plus a probiotic strain, Bacillus Coagulans (LactoSpore). The probiotic is meant to reduce bloating, which some people get from standard whey.

    Flavors, Sizes and Allergens

Five flavors are available: Strawberry & Raspberry, Salted Peanut Caramel, Banana, Chocolate and Vanilla.

    You can choose a 900g tub for £34.99 or a 2.2kg tub for £69.99.

The product contains milk and soya. It may also hold traces of gluten and egg.

What Buyers Say About Mixing and Taste

Mixability gets the most consistent praise across independent reviews. Multiple reviewers say the powder dissolves instantly, even when stirred with only a fork.

They also report no clumping in a shaker or a smoothie. That fits the “Instant” in the product name.

Opinions on taste are more divided. Several reviewers rate specific flavors highly for their balance of sweetness and for their texture, calling them smooth rather than chalky.

At least one reviewer felt that flavor intensity is the weak spot next to more heavily sweetened competitor brands. If bold flavor is your top priority, temper your expectations a little.

On the brand’s wider Trustpilot page, the rating is around 4 stars from roughly 3,000 reviews. Reviewers there repeatedly say that once people start buying Reflex protein, they keep buying it.

    Reflex Range and Rival Comparison

Reflex’s own comparison chart places Instant Whey Pro squarely between two siblings:

    • 100% Whey is the entry-level option, with 21g of protein at £26.99 for 720g.
    • Isolate Pro is the more expensive one, with 25g of protein at £79.99 for 1.8kg.

Isolate Pro edges it out if you want the cleanest macros no matter the price. Most buyers who want the best trade-off between protein content and cost per serving settle on Instant Whey Pro, the middle ground.

Among outside rivals, Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey offers a similar 24g of protein per serving and a wider flavor range.

The bigger point in Reflex’s favor is where the powder is made. Production is in-house in Brighton, with Informed Sport testing, instead of being handed to a third-party contract manufacturer.

    Our Verdict

Pick Instant Whey Pro for a whey made in the UK, mixing that reviewers love, a tidy ingredient list and anti-doping tests by a third party. It is an easy recommendation.

Expect a subtler flavor profile than heavily sweetened budget brands. Choose your flavor by the reviewer feedback on that specific flavor, not on the product as a whole.
