Pockets used to hold a thumb drive, sometimes two or three. It was a convenient habit.
Later, plenty of people moved to bigger external 2.5-inch hard drives. The extra capacity and faster overall speeds made the added bulk worth it.
Portable SSDs bring us back to pocket-friendly sizes. That is where the Satechi Mini NVMe SSD Enclosure comes in, because it offers a handy way to carry a lot of storage wherever you go.
A Shell for Your 2230mm NVMe Drive
This enclosure is designed for 2230mm NVMe solid state drives. It gives you a secure, portable home for an SSD, so games, movies and other large media files stay available locally.
It also moves data quickly, at up to 10Gbps. That means big files load without the long waits you would get when pulling the same files down from cloud storage.

Small Enough for the Tiniest Pocket
The enclosure is about the size of a matchbox. Its dimensions are 1.8 inches wide, 1.2 inches tall and 0.5 inches thick, so it slips into even the smallest pocket.
No storage is built in. You bring your own 2230mm NVMe SSD, and installing it takes four easy steps:
- Slide off the magnetic glass cover.
- Plug the SSD into the connector at a 45 degree angle.
- Secure the SSD with the silicone pin.
- Slide the cover back on.
No tools are needed at any point. Once the cover is back in place, the SSD is ready to use.
One USB-C Connector, Plenty of Devices
A USB-C connector lets you plug into any device that has a compatible port. That covers laptops, tablets, phones and gaming handhelds, along with anything else you want to connect to external storage.
The 10Gbps transfer speed has another benefit. On compatible iPhones, it unlocks Apple ProRes Log recording.

How Quick Is It, Really?
Actual speeds depend on the SSD you decide to use inside the enclosure. At the top end, a 10GB movie file should move in around 10 seconds.
Moving 3,000 JPEG photos at 24MP should take around 56 seconds.
To keep things running efficiently, a tiny fan sits inside, and built-in air vents provide continuous cooling. The fan has to be truly miniature to fit.
A cable comes in the box if you need it. There is also a carrying case, which you can attach to the enclosure with a lanyard.

Aluminum, Glass and Swappable Drives
The housing is aluminum with chamfered edges, topped by a tempered glass cover. The included cable has a braided exterior for durability.
Because an SSD is easy to install and remove, one enclosure can serve many drives. When a drive fills up, you can swap in a new one.
You can get the Satechi enclosure right now.
