reMarkable’s note-taking tablets rank among the most popular ones out there. Their one drawback is size, since they are about as big as a textbook and awkward to carry all day.
The reMarkable Paper Pro Move is the company’s answer to that problem.
Pocket-Sized and Paper-Like
This is a more portable take on the company’s e-paper devices. You get the paper-like reading and writing feel of the bigger models.
The body is about the size of a reporter’s notebook. That is small enough to slip into a jacket pocket, so you can bring it along even without a bag.

Dimensions, Screen and Stylus
The tablet is significantly smaller than reMarkable’s earlier releases. It is 7.7 inches high, 4.2 inches wide and 0.3 inches thick.
The screen is a 7.3-inch Canvas Color display, adapted from E-Ink’s Gallery 3 panel. That should deliver better color reproduction than earlier e-paper devices.
A stylus comes with it. The stylus clips onto the tablet’s side between uses and recharges from the battery automatically.
As with earlier reMarkable devices, the goal is an experience that matches paper in look, feel and even sound, according to the company.
Tools, Templates and Organization
The tablet has nine digital writing tools, including pens, markers and highlighters. Use them to write notes, mark up books or sketch.
Templates include lined pads, dotted paper, lists and weekly planners. Together they let the device work as an all-in-one notebook.
One tap converts all of your handwriting to digital text, which makes it easier to send in an email. Folders, tags and search come built in, so notes are easy to organize and find.
File support is more limited than on ebook readers. The tablet can only import PDF and ePub files, and it exports in PDF, PNG and SVG.

Lighting, Performance and Battery
Adjustable front lighting gives you soft illumination when you need it. The 1696 x 954 resolution keeps everything sharp, whether you read, write or draw.
The hardware inside breaks down like this:
- Processor: 1.7GHz dual-core Cortex A55
- Memory: 2GB of DDR4 RAM
- Storage: 64GB, built in
That leaves plenty of space for notes and documents.
The 2,334 mAh battery is rated for two weeks of use. A 10-minute charge supplies enough power for three days of moderate use.

Software, Cloud and Extras
The software is a custom flavor of Linux built for digital paper displays. Cloud storage is available through reMarkable’s own service.
If you prefer other options, you can use Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox instead.
It also offers encryption on the device and in the cloud. Mobile and desktop apps let you read notes saved to the cloud.
The frame is anodized aluminum, and the textured glass display adds to the paper-like feel. The package also includes six replacement tips for the stylus.
