VIOMI Vortex 8 Pro under-sink tankless reverse osmosis purifier with its smart LED faucet

VIOMI sells its water filters in four tiers, and the Vortex 8 Pro lands in the middle of the range. It costs more than the entry-level Pure B6W and the standard Vortex 8, yet less than the flagship Master M1.

At $479.99, this is the model VIOMI pushes hardest. The brand says the Vortex line has gathered over 10,000 reviews.

We went through the full spec sheet and the certification paperwork. The goal was to find out whether the “Pro” price bump is justified.

    Filtration Hardware and Certifications

It is a tankless reverse osmosis system with 9 stages, and its rating is 800 gallons per day. At its core sits a 0.0001-micron RO membrane.

It holds NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 58 certifications, and it also carries NSF/ANSI 372 for lead-free materials. SGS has tested it independently as well.

The contaminants it is certified to reduce include chlorine, fluoride and nitrate, as well as arsenic, copper, lead, PFOS and PFOA.

Most RO systems under $500 do not certify against a list that broad.

    Water Speed and Waste Ratio

VIOMI lists a peak flow of 71 oz per minute. At that speed, an 8-ounce glass takes about 7 seconds to fill.

The ratio of pure water to drain water is 3:1, so one cup goes to waste for every three cups of purified water. That works out to roughly 75% efficiency.

Older tank-based RO systems typically manage about 50%.

    Filters, Faucet and Upkeep

One RO filter comes pre-installed. The box also has two PCB filters, with one installed and one held as a spare.

The RO filter lasts 2 years, while the PCB filter needs replacing each year. Swapping them takes no tools.

The system also flushes the membrane automatically to limit buildup between filter changes.

A smart LED faucet shows water quality and remaining filter life in real time. The companion app also tracks how much water you use over time.

Owners across the Vortex line regularly single out the LED faucet and the app tracking as the best convenience features. They see it as a clear step up from older systems that count on a paper sticker to remind you.

    What Installation Really Involves

This is not a fully plug-and-play job. You need a standard electrical outlet close to the unit, and you need to drill two holes.

The faucet hole should measure 1 to 1.5 inches. The drain line needs a hole of 1/4 inch.

If you already have a garbage disposal, VIOMI suggests giving the filter system its own dedicated outlet.

There is one real limitation. The smart faucet pairs only with the faucet in the box, so you cannot swap in a style you already own.

The system also cannot feed a fridge dispenser or an ice maker.

    Footprint and Coverage

Dimensions come to 16.3 by 5 by 12.8 inches, and the weight is 22.9 pounds. It is compact enough that most sink cabinets keep some usable space.

A 2-year warranty is included, and you can extend it at checkout. VIOMI’s standard return window is 30 days.

Against the Base Vortex 8 and Waterdrop

The base Vortex 8 has a 4-year RO filter lifespan, while the Pro’s is 2 years. Anyone who cares more about filter cost than about the Pro’s extra polish could reasonably prefer the base model.

Waterdrop’s G3P800 is similarly specced. The Vortex 8 Pro matches its NSF/ANSI certifications and its 3:1 drain ratio, and it lists for noticeably less.

    Waterdrop’s system uses a 10-stage filter, while VIOMI’s has 9 stages.

    Our Verdict

Given what it costs, the Vortex 8 Pro is honestly a well-specced choice. It suits anyone who wants certified tankless RO with real-time monitoring and accepts VIOMI’s proprietary faucet.

Set aside a dedicated outlet and make room for two drilled holes at installation. Should the 2-year RO filter life put you off, look at the 4-year filter on the base Vortex 8 before you decide.
