Buying a robot vacuum is a bit of a leap. You pay for the gadget first, and only after weeks at home do you learn whether it fits your floors, your furniture and your habits. That makes careful research worth the time.
The ECOVACS catalog is big enough to feel confusing. Model names stack letters and numbers, and plenty of robots look alike in photos. This guide boils the lineup down to a handful of decisions: mopping style, floor types, space and upkeep.
Everything below comes from the brand’s spec sheets and published policies, plus independent test write-ups. It is research, not a hands-on test. If you want to go deep on one model, our full verdict on the ECOVACS DEEBOT T90 PRO OMNI goes through that model in detail.
The ECOVACS Story in Brief
ECOVACS’s anniversary archive says the company’s first base was a three-story office building supplied by the administration of Xianfeng village. Founder Qian Dongqi started the business in 1998 in Suzhou, China, as a factory making vacuum cleaners for other companies.
The brand traces the robot idea to 2000, when Qian read a newspaper piece on a robot football match and began thinking about combining vacuums with robots. An in-house research team followed, and ECOVACS describes the result as China’s first robotic vacuum cleaner.
A handful of later milestones map onto features you can still see in current models.
- Mapping: the DEEBOT 9 series of 2013 added laser mapping and smartphone control.
- Mopping: OZMO mopping debuted in 2017 on the DEEBOT OZMO 930 and later evolved into the OZMO ROLLER.
- Public listing: ECOVACS listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2018.
- Station and voice: the DEEBOT X1 line of 2021 introduced both the YIKO voice assistant and the OMNI Station, an all-in-one base.
- Beyond floors: the first GOAT robotic lawn mower arrived in 2022.
By its own count, ECOVACS robots reach 38 million homes in 180 countries and regions, and the company holds 2,500 global patents. The group also owns Tineco, a second brand focused on floor-care appliances. Company age says little about any single robot, so judge each model on its own specs and test results.
How the DEEBOT Lineup Is Organized
On its US site, ECOVACS groups its DEEBOT robot vacuums and mops into three families.
- X Series: the flagships, such as the DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone with its bagless station.
- T Series: everyday cleaning with strong features, from the entry-level T50 PRO OMNI up to the T90S PRO OMNI.
- N Series: the value-focused line.
Beyond floors, the catalog stretches to window robots (WINBOT), lawn mowers (GOAT) and pool cleaners (ULTRAMARINE). This guide stays with the floor robots.

Match the Robot to Your Home
Start with how much mopping matters
The lineup splits in two on mopping, so decide how much it matters first. The T80, T80S and T90 models and the X9, X11 and X12 lines use the OZMO ROLLER, a long roller that is rinsed with fresh water while it works. The entry-level T50 PRO OMNI instead uses OZMO Turbo 2.0, a pair of rotating mop plates.
Think about carpet and thresholds
Carpet handling varies even among roller models. The T90 PRO OMNI raises its roller by 0.59 inches over carpet and offers a Carpets First option that vacuums rugs ahead of the hard-floor mopping. It has no physical cover, so it is better matched to a few area rugs than to wall-to-wall carpet.
For mostly carpeted homes, look at the T90S PRO OMNI. ECOVACS describes a built-in cover that separates the wet roller from the fibers, and it lists 40,000Pa of suction and threshold climbing up to 0.98 inches.
Measure furniture and floor space
Check the space beneath your sofa and bed first, then compare it with each robot’s height: 3.19 inches for the T50 PRO OMNI, about 3.7 inches (95 mm) for the T90 PRO OMNI and 3.9 inches for the T80S.
Leave room for the dock as well. With its base, the T90 station occupies roughly 13.3 by 18.1 by 19.7 inches, and it has to sit near an outlet, so settle on its location early.
Pets, dust bags and smart assistants
Households with pets should look for ZeroTangle, whose 4.0 version is found on the T90 and X12 families. In one independent test, the T90 earned a perfect hair-wrap result. Bagless stations come with the X11 and X12 OmniCyclone models, and ECOVACS says skipping bags lowers running costs. AGENT YIKO, the AI assistant, is listed on the T90 PRO OMNI and X12S.
ECOVACS Tech in Plain English
Product pages from ECOVACS lean heavily on trademarked feature names. This section decodes the main ones, using the T90 PRO OMNI as the reference model because most of them appear on it. Independent test results are added wherever a feature was measured.
OZMO ROLLER: the self-rinsing mop
The OZMO ROLLER is a single microfiber roller that stands in for the two round pads most robot mops use. Pads collect dirt and carry on wiping with it until the robot is back at the dock. By ECOVACS’s design, the roller is sprayed by pressurized jets of fresh water as it turns, and a scraper pulls the used water into a tank on the robot, which is meant to keep the surface touching your floor freshly rinsed.
OZMO ROLLER 3.0 is the third generation. ECOVACS puts its length at 27 cm, which it says is 50% more than before, and its top speed at 200 RPM. In independent testing, dried-stain cleaning scored close to 50% above that tester’s average.

BLAST: how airflow adds to suction
The BLAST name expands to Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology, and it reflects the brand’s argument that pascals do not tell the whole story, since moving air is what carries debris into the bin. On the T90 PRO OMNI, the spec sheet pairs a 30,000Pa peak with 16 L/s of airflow, and ECOVACS says the redesign lowers suction noise by up to 5 dBA.
ZeroTangle: fighting hair wrap
Airflow channels in ZeroTangle 4.0 steer hair toward the suction path, which is meant to keep strands from winding around the brush. Independent results are favorable: one test gave a perfect score on a hair-wrap test with 7-inch strands, along with 100% pet-hair pickup, and a second tester saw no tangling with long hairs.
AIVI 3D and Mini-ToF: the robot’s eyes
Where older designs put a spinning laser tower on top, the newer T-series robots navigate with a Mini-ToF sensor that faces forward. Obstacle recognition falls to AIVI 3D 4.0, which combines structured light with an AI camera. The payoff is a body only 95 mm tall, and the cost is a narrower field of view. Test results are split: one independent tester saw occasional pauses to re-aim and contact with slim dark chair legs, while another counted 23 of 24 obstacles avoided.
AGENT YIKO: your home’s AI helper
The original YIKO was a voice assistant that debuted with the DEEBOT X1 family. AGENT YIKO builds on a large language model, and ECOVACS says it learns a home’s layout and routines to create and adjust cleaning plans automatically. Little independent testing of it was available when this guide was researched.
ECOVACS vs Roborock
ECOVACS and Roborock are rival robotics makers from China, and both sell roller-mop robots. To compare them on equal terms, this section sets the ECOVACS DEEBOT T90 PRO OMNI against the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow. A single independent reviewer tested both machines, so the notes line up neatly.
Side by side
| Feature | T90 PRO OMNI | Qrevo Curv 2 Flow |
|---|---|---|
| Body height | 9.5 cm | 11.9 cm |
| Mapping hardware | Mini-ToF sensor, no laser tower | LiDAR tower on top |
| Cleaning power | 30,000Pa suction | 20,000Pa suction |
| Battery | 4,000 mAh, topped up by PowerBoost | 6,400 mAh |
| Mop roller | OZMO ROLLER 3.0, 27 cm, 200 RPM max | SpiraFlow, 27 cm, 220 RPM |
| Carpet | Lifts 15 mm, no cover | Lifts 15 mm and adds a cover |
| Dirty tank | 2.2 L | 3 L |
| Detergent dosing | Built in | Not included |
| Mop-only mode | Absent | Absent |
Mopping: the reviewer preferred ECOVACS
In the reviewer’s hands, the T90 came out ahead on mopping: it was rated very good, and a dried ketchup stain came off almost without a trace. The Roborock’s mopping fell short of expectations, even though the two rollers are nearly identical on paper. Experience may be a factor, since ECOVACS has built roller mops through several generations and this was Roborock’s first.
Navigation: the reviewer preferred Roborock
Roborock keeps a spinning LiDAR tower on top, which gives a full view around the robot, and the reviewer described its coverage as confident and systematic. The T90 navigates with a front-facing sensor instead. It does the job, though the reviewer saw it turn now and then to reorient and flagged weaker obstacle detection on the return trip to the dock.
Going by the review notes, the ECOVACS fits hard-floor homes that prioritize mopping, suction, built-in detergent dosing and a low body. The Roborock fits readers who want precise mapping, own many rugs, or prefer a big battery to quick top-ups.
Models Worth Shortlisting
ECOVACS sells many DEEBOT models, so this table picks out several that cover different needs. Each has a distinct job, so they are not ranked on one scale. Prices change often, so check the current price on Amazon for any model that catches your eye.
| Model | Suction | Mop style | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| T90 PRO OMNI | 30,000Pa | OZMO ROLLER 3.0 | Mixed floors and pets |
| T90S PRO OMNI | 40,000Pa | OZMO ROLLER 3.0, carpet cover | Carpet-heavy homes |
| X12S OmniCyclone | 53AW | OZMO ROLLER 3.0 plus FocusJet | Bagless convenience |
| X9 PRO OMNI | 16,600Pa | Earlier OZMO ROLLER | Big battery |
| T80S OMNI | 24,800Pa | OZMO ROLLER 2.0 | Roller mopping, lower tier |
| T50 PRO OMNI | 15,000Pa | OZMO Turbo 2.0 plates | Entry level, low furniture |
| WINBOT W2S PRO OMNI | Not applicable | Cleaning pads for glass | Glass surfaces |
T90S PRO OMNI. Suction climbs to 40,000Pa, and a built-in cover shields carpet fibers from the wet roller. It fits households with many rugs and heavy-shedding pets.
T50 PRO OMNI. At 3.19 inches tall, it is the lowest of the models mentioned in this guide, and its slim profile comes from an embedded dToF LiDAR module, per the brand. Suction is 15,000Pa and the station is a full OMNI unit. The trade-off is mopping: it uses two rotating plates rather than the roller that testers praised on the T90.
Quick picks by situation
- Compact apartment with low furniture: the T50 PRO OMNI.
- Mostly hard floors, with a roller from a lower tier: the T80S OMNI.
- Pets and mixed flooring in a larger place: the T90 PRO OMNI.
- Carpet in most rooms: the T90S PRO OMNI.
- You never want to buy a dust bag: the X12S OmniCyclone.

Care and Upkeep
A DEEBOT with an OMNI station is low-maintenance, not maintenance-free. The station handles the heaviest jobs, so the checklist below is short. It is written around the T90 PRO OMNI, and much of it carries over to other OMNI models.
Water tanks
The tanks are the main recurring job. Refill the clean tank and empty the dirty one, and rinse the dirty tank each time to help avoid odors. A roller is rinsed constantly, so it can draw more water than a pad system, and how often you refill depends on home size and settings.
Brushes, filter and sensors
- Look over the main and side brushes for hair or string. ZeroTangle reduces wrapping, but thread and carpet fibers can still catch.
- Rinse the filter, which is washable on the T90, and let it dry completely before refitting it.
- Wipe the front sensors, the camera window and the charging contacts with a dry cloth. Dust on the sensors can affect navigation.

Swap consumables once they show wear, because a frayed roller or clogged filter hurts results well before anything fails outright. ECOVACS sells replacements for the roller mop, main brush, filter and dust bags, plus cleaning solution that includes a pet-friendly version. ECOVACS built the station around its own solution, so staying with it makes sense. Keeping the ECOVACS HOME app updated is an easy habit too.
Warranty, Returns and Buying Safely
Where to buy
A robot vacuum may need warranty service or genuine parts years after purchase, so the seller deserves some thought. ECOVACS sells through its own US store and names authorized US retailers on its Where to Buy page, with its brand store on Amazon among them.
Buy new, and buy from ECOVACS or an authorized seller. The US policy excludes resale machines from warranty coverage, with Amazon Resale given as one example, and tells those buyers to contact the platform they purchased through. Before you order, confirm who is selling the item, match the model name to the brand’s own site, and hold on to the receipt, box and accessories.
Warranty and extended plans
The warranty runs 12 months from the purchase date and covers defects in materials and workmanship, as long as the product came from ECOVACS or one of its dealers. Coverage stops short of problems caused by improper installation, maintenance or use, by unauthorized repairs, or by parts that ECOVACS did not make or supply, which is one more reason to follow the care routine above. The brand’s own store also sells 1-year and 2-year extended plans.
Returns
Orders placed on the ECOVACS store can be returned for a refund or exchange within 30 days. Before sending anything back, ask ECOVACS for a Return Request, because items shipped without one are not refundable. A full refund also requires the receipt, the packaging and every accessory. Expect original shipping to be deducted unless the product is defective, and expect to cover return shipping if you changed your mind. Heavily used, altered or damaged items are not accepted.
If you buy from another retailer, that retailer’s own return policy applies, and its window can differ. Read it before you order.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a DEEBOT run without Wi-Fi?
Partly. The buttons on the robot start, pause and stop it, according to ECOVACS. Everything else, including maps, remote control, choosing rooms, drawing no-go zones and adjusting suction or water output, is handled through the ECOVACS HOME app and needs an internet connection.
Does it work on carpet?
Yes, with caveats. ECOVACS robots detect carpet and raise suction automatically, and the T90 PRO OMNI lifts its roller by 0.59 inches as well. It has no physical cover, so mostly carpeted homes are a better match for the T90S PRO OMNI. In one independent test, short-pile carpet was easy going, but medium pile called for maximum suction with the deep-clean setting.
How long does the battery last?
In standard vacuum-and-mop mode, ECOVACS rates the T90 PRO OMNI for up to 350 minutes of running time, and PowerBoost adds short top-ups whenever the roller is washed. An independent tester still had 75% charge left after cleaning 50 m². A full recharge is listed at 2.5 hours, while the brand gives 3 to 5 hours for most of its robots and notes that the first charge may take longer.
How loud is it?
An independent test logged about 58 dB, climbing to near 68 dB at maximum suction on carpet, and the brand lists 60 dBA for standard cleaning. The station is louder while it empties the dust, at 71 dBA on the silent setting and 76 dBA on standard.
Which model suits mixed floors and pets?
For mixed floors, pets and a mid-size or large home, the T90 PRO OMNI is the model this guide uses as its reference, and the T90S PRO OMNI suits homes that are mostly carpet. To check current pricing, browse the ECOVACS storefront on Amazon and find the model there. The link opens Amazon.
