Epoch’s 12V 105Ah Essential Series has collected more reviews than almost anything else the brand sells. It costs $499, and 154 reviewers have rated it 4.8 out of 5.

Epoch Essential Series 12V 105Ah LiFePO4 battery with Bluetooth monitoring and built-in heating

We wanted to know one thing: do the added Bluetooth and heating justify paying $200 more than the base Eco Series? To find out, we read Epoch’s spec sheet along with plenty of verified buyer reviews.

    Inside the Case

    This is a 12.8V, 105Ah LiFePO4 battery rated at 1.34kWh. It uses a 4S1P cell configuration.

The case measures 10.25 x 9 x 6.75 inches, and the battery weighs 22.1 lbs. That equals the footprint of a regular lead-acid Group 24 unit.

The matching size helps when you replace a battery in a boat or RV tray that is already installed. You will not have to rebuild the compartment.

    Power, Protection and Warranty

Epoch’s spec sheet rates the battery for 105A of continuous discharge and up to 100A of charge current. It can also surge to 200A for 10 seconds.

Cycle life is rated at 4,000 cycles. The built-in BMS covers overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short-circuit and temperature protection.

The battery carries an IP54 rating. Epoch’s standard 11-year warranty applies.

    What Bluetooth and Heating Add

Two features set this battery apart from the cheaper Eco Series. One is Bluetooth monitoring through Epoch’s Ion app. The other is internal heating.

With the heating, the battery can charge in temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F), where it would otherwise stop at freezing. A boat or RV stored through a real winter is the case where this pays off, since the battery can charge in January instead of waiting for a warm day.

The Eco Series has neither feature. Epoch’s product data shows no Bluetooth app support whatsoever on that line.

Maybe you like to check the state of charge from your phone without opening a battery compartment. If so, that alone justifies stepping up a tier.

    Buyer and Installer Feedback

A 4.8 average from 154 verified reviews is a strong result for that many ratings. The reviews we read on Epoch’s own site were short and consistent.

Buyers mention batteries arriving in good condition and installs that were easy. They also say support was helpful whenever questions came up.

Independent RV and marine forums tell a similar story about Epoch’s 12V Essential-tier batteries in general. Installers call them reliable drop-in replacements with dependable Bluetooth monitoring.

Forum posters also note that the Essential Series has stayed clear of the firmware and Victron communication complaints that surface in some Elite Series threads.

    Eco, Essential or Elite?

The Eco Series costs $299. The Essential Series adds Bluetooth and heating for $200 more.

The Elite Series costs $1,999. It brings Victron compatibility and a higher amp-hour ceiling.

The Essential Series costs a quarter of that. Forum feedback also suggests it has fewer connectivity quirks.

Boat, RV and golf cart owners who do not already run a Victron system will usually find the Essential Series the more practical choice.

    Our Verdict

Epoch’s catalog has no easier recommendation for a lithium replacement that matches Group 24 dimensions. You get real Bluetooth monitoring, charging in cold weather and an 11-year warranty.

Measure your tray against the 10.25 x 9 x 6.75-inch case before you order. Then follow Epoch’s recommended charge settings instead of the defaults on your old lead-acid charger.
